Today Was a Day of Victory

Throughout the day I was spot checking random websites on PS3s mostly out of morbid curiosity and helplessness.

I was enjoying the Amazon.com commentors on the 60 gig PS3 page last night, so once I got home from a late dinner with friends around 9:45 tonight, I happened to see that someone bought a PS3 on Sonystyle.com of all places. Certainly the last place I would have checked. I mean, of all the places that would run out of PS3s first, wouldn't you think it would be Sonystyle.com?

Lo and behold, there are the 60 and 20 gig PS3s with the magical "add to cart" button right next to them.

The 60 lets me get to the confirm my cart and denies... I try again.... I try again... I try again.... I choose a 20 gig.... It adds it to my inventory.

I yelp and yell for my wife to run and bring the credit card! Hurry I yell, as I furiously type my personal info in praying that I don't make any typos. Of course not! I'm MotherF'n Saavedra the dev! I type like a madman! I get the info in and click!

I'm in! Confirmation #sent. Email recieved. My ps3 will be here in a few days.

I am quite pleased about this.

As you may have noticed in earlier posts I have gone through more anguish over the PS3 launch that I probably deserve to do. It's the principle of the whole thing. The magic of gaming is being ruined by greedy people.

I feel like I've won. I didn't wait in line anywhere and watch people fight over something that they are just trying to make a profit out of. I didn't have some stupid game store take advantage of my desperation and make me sell my game systems only to magically not get the amount of systems they pre-sold (seriously, as if they have NO CLUE how many systems are being shipped to them... IE don't sell it if you don't have it.). There were no outrageous $1200.00 bundles filled with worthless EA sports rehashes just so I could get to the games I did want to buy.

I feel like I beat the system and got to save a little piece of the magic for myself. All out of pure luck.
