Nascar

I don't talk all that much about the media, tv, or movies here, but I figure this is as probably a good place as any to do that.

I was on the way to work this morning, and I was listening to this guy on the radio in a commercial who was losing his mind over 24 hour coverage of Nascar. I couldn't help but wonder to myself who wants or requires 24 hour coverage of Nascar, and why they would be losing their fricken minds over the concept of it.

While I live in San Diego, and I am sure there are plenty of Nascar fans around here, I just wonder what warrants all of the promotion that I see all the time for it over the past few years. I think stations generally just advertise to the local demographic, so I'm just wondering who in the world is so into this sport? I don't know a single person that cares enough to watch a full race here in SD let alone want to watch it all day every day.

No idea.. but this IS Calfornia. There are some pretty crazy people here I've noticed.. None that would appear to be the "Nascar" type though.. =)

I'm just boggled by commercials that have super enthusiastic people talking about Nascar when I live in a state and town that doesn't seem to care about it.

Yeah, well just because you don't want to buy something, doesn't mean somebody won't try to sell it to you anyways. Take the cell phone kiosks at just about any mall for example. =)
